OUR CLASSES

  • TINYTOTS (2.5-5YRS)

    Dancers learn the basic technique of classical, jazz & tap dance including counting with the music & various games designed to develop their musical interpretation & coordination skills.  Techniques from the Comdance Modern Jazz, Classical Ballet and Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus are included in this class.

  • JAZZ

    WBDA students develop their jazz technique and style following the Comdance Modern Jazz Syllabus. Our jazz classes focus on developing a strong technical basis through a variety of combinations and exercises. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • MUSICAL THEATRE

    Musical Theatre classes developing and exploring the variety of aspects involved in musical theatre. Musical Theatre classes encompass a variety of dance styles along with characterisation and acting elements of Broadway musicals. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • LYRICAL

    Lyrical dance is derived from other styles such as jazz, ballet and modern techniques. WBDA Lyrical classes focus on developing lyrical style with influence from the Comdance jazz syllabus and ballet foundations. Lyrical dance has a strong focus on the emotion of the dancer and is often heavily influenced by the lyrics of a song. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • CONTEMPORARY

    WBDA Contemporary classes focus on developing contemporary technique following the Comdance Contemporary syllabus. Created by Jason Winters, the Comdance Contemporary syllabus provides a comprehensive training in the philosophies and exercises that underpin contemporary movements. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • CLASSICAL BALLET

    WBDA Classical classes develop classical ballet technique in line with the Comdance and RAD syllabi in conjunction with Progressing Ballet Technique exercises. Classical ballet classes are recommended for all students and are compulsory for WBDA competitive dancers. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • POINTE

    WBDA also offers pointe classes for those dancers wanting to take their ballet training to the next level. All dancers wanting to take pointe classes must undergo a pre-pointe physio assessment prior to commencing classes.  Classical Ballet class is compulsory for all pointe students.  Approval is required by your teacher before enrolling in this class.

  • HIP HOP

    WBDA hip hop classes focus on developing hip hop techniques with influence from the Comdance and ATOD hip hop syllabi. Dancers explore a variety of hip hop styles and techniques throughout the year such as old school and new school grooves, dance hall, waving, waacking and freezes. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • TAP

    WBDA Tap classes follow the Glenn Wood and Comdance Tap syllabi to develop strong tap foundations. Classes work through a number of levels/grades with exercises becoming increasingly challenging and developing rhythmic ability and co-ordination. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • CHEER

    Our recreational cheer classes are held in line with the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation. WBDA Cheer classes work on variety of tumbling and stunting skills whilst also incorporating pom dancing. Cheerleaders learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • ACROBATICS

    WBDA offers level based Acrobatic classes. Classes are designed to strengthen & lengthen muscles & to develop acrobatic skills, following the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus. Dancers learn two different routines throughout the year to perform at our mid-year and end of year performances.

  • ADULT CLASSES

    Available in Jazz, Tap & Contemporary.  30 minutes of fun, fitness, and choreography!  A friendly, relaxed environment to improve your dance skills - with the opportunity to perform in our annual concerts.

  • PROGRESSING BALLET TECHNIQUE (PBT)

    PBT is an innovate body-conditioning and strengthening program that is designed to enhance students’ technique, prevent injury and improve core strength, posture, alignment and weight placement.

  • MODERN JAZZ EXAMS

    A structured syllabus class in modern jazz to enhance technique & flexibility. Internationally recognised exams are conducted annually. Dancers work through the Comdance syllabus and sit an annual exam. Modern Jazz classes work to develop and strengthen jazz techniques with increasingly challenging progressions in exercises and industry relevant choreography.

  • COMPETITION CLASSES

    (Opportunities for concert involvement)Solo, Duo, Trio & Troupe classes for advanced students to compete at annual competitions.  Invite only - please register your interest with your teacher for competitions.

  • Boys Crew

    Boys Crew is a hip hop dance class for ages 6-12. This weekly concert class focuses on developing fundamental dance techniques with a focus on hip hop and influence from the Comdance and ATOD hip hop syllabi.

    Boys Crew is a great opportunity to explore a variety of hip hop styles and techniques in a welcoming, encouraging environment. Dancers in this class learn two routines throughout the year - one to perform at our mid-year dance display and one at our end-of-year concert.

  • Performing Arts

    In our performing arts classes, students will explore and develop singing, acting and dance skills, with a focus on musical theater performance! These classes are open to all experience levels. Become a triple threat & master singing, dancing and acting at WBDA!

  • Tiny Tumblers

    A fusion class introducing the fundamentals of acrobatics and dance for ages 3-6yrs!

    Every Friday from 10:00am - 10:45am.

    Our Tiny Tumblers class is where your little ones can dive into the world of acrobatics, dance and fundamental locomotive skills! From skipping, balancing, hopping, forward rolls, cartwheels to building strength and flexibility—this class fosters coordination and confidence! No concert commitments, just weekly fun!

  • TECHNIQUE CLASSES

    Minimum level - Sub-Juniors.  A class focusing on dance technique fundamentals to enhance all areas of dance. PBT based.  Highly recommended for competitive dancers and any students wanting to take their dancing to the next level! 

  • STRENGTH & STRETCH

    Minimum level - Sub-Juniors.  A class focusing on developing and increasing the flexibility and strength required for dance! A mix of flexibility training, core stability, endurance and muscular strength. Highly recommended for competitive dancers and any students wanting to take their dancing to the next level!

  • KICKS, JUMPS & TURNS

    Minimum level - Sub-Juniors.  A class focusing on the technical components required for a variety of kicks, jumps and turns. Be ready to challenge yourself with fun, new and exciting skills & combos! A dynamic addition to any dancers training with influence from RADAR technique.
